That picture right there? That is official Lego graphics from the newly launch Lego Lord of the Rings website. Lego has gotten the rights to make figures and settings from Lord of the Rings as well as the two forth coming Hobbit films. The sets for Lord of the Rings will start launching in June 2012 and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will follow later in the year.
This can ultimately only mean one thing: Lego Lord of the Rings VIDEO GAMES.
All of this Lego Lord of the Rings news is so exciting my long suffering best friend received an all caps “unironically this is the best news ever” email from me. Because really? THIS IS UNIRONICALLY THE BEST NEWS EVER.

It’s sad that these days the 1944 film of LORD OF THE RINGS, starring Humphrey Bogart as Frodo, Sydney Greenstreet as Gandalf, Peter Lorre as Gollum (and, of course, Orson Welles as Saruman) has been almost totally lost.
This video attempts to reconstruct it from the surviving footage.
